Happy Halloween from First Gold

Happy Halloween from First Gold

In Deadwood, where the echoes of prospectors seeking fortunes still linger, Halloween takes on a unique blend of history and spooky festivities. With its historic charm, the town becomes a backdrop for Halloween celebrations that nod to the mysterious and adventurous spirit of the Gold Rush era.

As costumed revelers wander the streets, it's a playful acknowledgment of the unknown and the daring pursuits of those early prospectors who navigated the uncertainties of mining. The town's historic buildings, cast in eerie shadows, provide the perfect setting for a Halloween that pays homage to Deadwood's storied past while embracing the spooky traditions of the season.

Maybe that’s why one of Deadwood’s biggest parties of the year is Deadweird, its annual Halloween bash. The two-day party starts on Friday, Oct. 25, with a Monster Ball at the Deadwood Mountain Grand Event Center. There will be live music by Flannel, a costume contest, dancing, and more. Must be 21.The party continues on Saturday, Oct. 26, with a costume contest and party. There will be music, dancing, and up to $10,000 in prizes.

For those under 21, there will be family-friendly trick or treating on Saturday, Oct. 26 outdoors at the Days of ’76 Event Complex. The trunk or treat will be from 3 pm to 5 pm. The KidWeird Halloween event will be on Oct. 31 for ages 12 and under at the Deadwood Mountain Grand Event Center, which will include a haunted house, candy giveaways, and games.
